Wheat is an annual grass that grows 4' tall. It produces spikelets (clusters of flowers) that mature to a seed head that is about 4" long. Leaves are up to 16" long and 1/2" wide. Wheat grain is second only to rice in importance as a global agricultural food crop. Flowering occurs during spring to late summer, depending on the latitude and variety of wheat.
